Limoges boxes are produced in Limoges, France since the mid 1800's and were originally used as snuff boxes. They are also know as Limoges pillboxes, trinket boxes or miniature hinged boxes.  Today they are mainly collectibles and decoration boxes, but are still manufactured in Limoges in the same tradition and with the same care for high quality required by the label "Limoges France."

Each item is characterized by a distinctive whiteness and rare translucence, highlighted by beautiful hand-painted decoration. Each box is exquisitely unique signed by the artist-painter.

About GR ATELIER d’ART DE LIMOGES:

In 1997, Mr. Pascal Guinot launched the first website selling the Limoges boxes and called it La Boutique de la Porcelaine de Limoges.

In 2001, Pascal Guinot acquired the Atelier d'Art Ribierre and changed the Name to ATELIER D'ART DE LIMOGES (the current studio name of GR Limoges).  With this purchase, the brandname, recognized in the USA among collectors and importers, was kept as GR.

Nowadays, GR acquires other studios or collections and keeps the name of GR to extend their production capability and maintain their high quality standards.

Yes.  All Limoges Boxes we sell are authentic LIMOGES products manufactured in the ATELIER D’ART DE LIMOGES factory.  The signature "Limoges, France" on every item guarantees its authenticity. Where do Limoges come from?

We import directly from the manufacturer in LIMOGES, FRANCE. Limoges is located in central France. Limoges is the French porcelain capital and this is why we can offer genuine items at the best prices.

How do I recognize authentic Limoges items?

All the genuine LIMOGES items are marked with the inscription "Limoges France", "Porcelaine de Limoges" or "Peint-main Limoges France" and with the signature of the artist or of the porcelain studio (example: GR, Sinclair, Rochard...)
